South Korea Schedules October Friendlies Against Venezuela and Uzbekistan Amidst Coaching Search
The South Korean men's national football team is set to face Venezuela and Uzbekistan in October friendly matches as the squad continues under an interim coaching arrangement. These fixtures are part of the "Hana Bank Invitational National Football Team Friendly Matches," with the Korea Football Association confirming the opponents for two of the October games on the 28th.
The team will first play Venezuela on October 2nd, followed by a match against Uzbekistan on October 6th. The specific venues and kick-off times for both encounters are yet to be announced. These games are part of the remaining A-match schedule for the year.
This expanded A-match schedule in September and October, totaling 16 days, will see teams play four consecutive matches. This change, implemented by FIFA after the conclusion of the 2026 North American World Cup, reduces the annual FIFA A-match windows from five to four. The association noted that this adjustment aims to protect players by reducing long-distance travel. The A-match windows in March, June, and November will retain their traditional nine-day duration, accommodating two matches each.
While the team prepares for these international friendlies, the search for a permanent head coach is ongoing. The current setup sees the squad operating under an interim coach, as they look to finalize a new leadership ahead of future competitive fixtures.
