The Hanwha Eagles secured a 5-3 victory over the Lotte Giants at Hanwha Life Insurance Eagles Park in Daejeon on the 29th, propelled by a stellar performance from pitcher Wang Yen-cheng and a powerful offensive display by Kim Tae-yeon. This win allowed the Eagles to avenge their previous loss to the Giants and keeps them in pursuit of the fifth-place spot in the standings.
Wang Yen-cheng, the Eagles’ Asian quota pitcher, delivered a masterful outing, pitching seven innings, allowing seven hits, one walk, and striking out two while surrendering only two earned runs. This strong showing earned him his ninth win of the season, elevating him to a tie for the league lead in victories. Hanwha manager Kim Kyung-moon praised Wang Yen-cheng, highlighting his excellent execution of the starting pitcher’s role.
On the offensive side, first baseman Kim Tae-yeon was the star, batting a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run, an RBI, and three runs scored. His potent bat provided crucial support for Wang Yen-cheng’s efforts on the mound.
