Son Heung-min Extends Scoring Streak for LAFC

Son Heung-min continued his impressive run for LAFC, netting a goal in the fifth minute against Sporting Kansas City on June 26. This marks his third consecutive match finding the back of the net in Major League Soccer, a feat he last achieved over ten months ago in September of last year.

Son opened the scoring early in the home fixture at BMO Stadium, converting a right-footed shot during a counter-attack. His recent form with LAFC stands in contrast to his performance in the 2026 North American World Cup group stage, where he went scoreless across three matches.

Since returning to LAFC after the World Cup, Son has been consistently productive. He registered his first league goal of the season on June 18 against the LA Galaxy, followed by a goal and an assist on June 23 against Real Salt Lake. His current season tally across all official competitions, including two goals in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, now stands at five.

LAFC, currently third in the Western Conference with 30 points (9 wins, 3 draws, 5 losses), started Son as a central forward in a 4-3-3 formation for the match against 15th-place Kansas City (4 wins, 2 draws, 10 losses, 14 points). He was flanked by Denis Bouanga on the left and David Martinez on the right, with a midfield trio of Marc Delgado, Mathieu Choiniere, and Timothy Tillman. The defensive line featured Yevhen Cheberko, Aaron Long, Ryan Porteous, and Ryan Hollingshead.
