Shin Tae-yong Receives One-Year Ban From KFA, Club Stands Firm

Shin Tae-yong, the head coach of Persija Jakarta, has been handed a one-year suspension by the Korea Football Association (KFA). The Indonesian club confirmed the disciplinary action and publicly declared its unwavering support for the coach.

Persija Jakarta stated on its website on the 26th that it had directly verified the details of the KFA’s sanction. The club clarified that the one-year ban on Shin Tae-yong’s coaching license falls under the KFA’s jurisdiction and is applicable only within South Korea. Consequently, Persija emphasized that the suspension would not affect his ability to manage the team in Indonesia.

The KFA had previously held a committee meeting earlier this month regarding Shin Tae-yong but had not disclosed the specifics of the punishment, citing privacy concerns. It was Persija Jakarta that officially revealed the nature of the disciplinary action.

Despite the KFA’s decision, Persija Jakarta conveyed its respect for the ruling while reaffirming its complete confidence in Shin Tae-yong to continue developing the team into a top-tier squad. In the South Korean football community, some have reportedly described the one-year suspension as a relatively light penalty for the coach.
