KBL Hosts B.League Referees for Intensive Offseason Training
The Korean Basketball League (KBL) is set to host three promising referees from Japan’s B.League for an intensive offseason training program. This exchange, scheduled from August 3rd to August 7th, is a direct follow-up to the memorandum of understanding signed between the two leagues in May.
The KBL stated that the B.League initiated the request, seeking to learn from Korea’s advanced referee education programs and operational methods. The primary goal of this collaboration is to foster the sharing of officiating expertise and to broaden international referee exchanges between the two professional basketball organizations.
During their time in Korea, the visiting officials will participate in a comprehensive training regimen alongside KBL referees. This includes physical conditioning such as circuit training and swimming for rehabilitation, as well as video analysis sessions and an introduction to the KBL’s game operations system. They are also slated to officiate KBL practice games to gain direct experience.
The KBL emphasized that this exchange aims to facilitate the sharing of officiating philosophies and educational frameworks. Both leagues plan to continue expanding international referee exchanges and joint educational initiatives in the future.
