The proposed deal would see Post earning $10 million annually, a figure that some reports suggest might be a significant commitment for the Warriors, particularly if they are considering making an offer to LeBron James or others. Post, who notably improved in his second season, particularly on the defensive end, averaged 7.7 points and 4 rebounds in just over 17 minutes per contest.
Memphis appears keen to bolster its frontcourt depth, despite already having Zach Edey at center and having agreed to trade for Isaiah Stewart as a backup big. The Grizzlies’ pursuit of Post indicates a desire for a more traditional center and a big body behind Edey, a strategic move in a Western Conference featuring formidable big men like Victor Wembanyama and Nikola Jokic.
