Nineteen-year-old rookie Eddie Daniel, a recent SK signee, is preparing with the Korean national basketball team for the upcoming 2027 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers. Daniel, who is the first player to join a professional team via the KBL's youth development system established in 2018, spoke on October 3rd following a public practice at the Jincheon National Training Center.
Daniel, born to an African-British father and a Korean mother, will officially join the professional ranks with SK ahead of the 2025-2026 season after graduating from Yongsan High School. He expressed his ambition to be an “energizer” for the team, capable of reigniting momentum even when players are fatigued.
The national team is currently in intense training at the athlete’s village, gearing up for their second-round qualification matches. Korea is set to travel to Lebanon for a game on October 28th, followed by a home game against Saudi Arabia on October 31st at the Suwon Chilbo Gymnasium in Gyeonggi.
