Zidane Takes Helm of French National Team
Zinedine Zidane has officially been appointed as the new head coach for the French national football team, ending a five-year wait since his departure from Real Madrid in May 2021. The French Football Federation announced his selection on the 28th, with Philippe Diallo confirming a four-year contract.
The legendary figure will succeed Didier Deschamps, who stepped down following the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America. Zidane had reportedly turned down numerous other coaching opportunities, expressing his singular desire to lead his home country’s squad.
