The match saw Lachlan Rose net the first goal of the Premiership season for United, giving them a half-time lead at Tannadice. Rangers, despite lacking control in the initial period, showed improvement after the break with Thelo Aasgaard finding the equalizer in the 56th minute. However, they failed to capitalize on the momentum, and United goalkeeper Jack Walton was called into action early with a stop from new Rangers captain Lawrence Shankland.
McInnes acknowledged the dropped points, stating his team wasn’t good enough to secure all three. He stressed the importance of greater trust in their system and improving basic execution.
