Hwang In-beom Joins Portuguese Powerhouse FC Porto

South Korean national team midfielder Hwang In-beom, 30, has officially signed with FC Porto, a prominent club in Portugal's Primeira Liga. The agreement, announced on the club's official channels on the 21st, is for a three-year term with an option for an additional year, potentially extending his stay to four seasons.

The transfer fee for Hwang is reported to be around 5 million euros, which includes an initial payment of 4.5 million euros and an additional 500,000 euros contingent on future performance. He will wear the number 16 jersey for his new club. FC Porto boasts a rich history, having secured the Portuguese top-flight title 31 times and clinching two victories each in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.

Hwang’s professional journey began in 2015 with Daejeon in the K-League. His career abroad has included stints with Vancouver Whitecaps in Major League Soccer, Olympiacos in Greece, and Crvena Zvezda in Serbia. Most recently, he played two seasons with Feyenoord in the Dutch Eredivisie, joining them in September 2024.

Despite facing injuries during his time with Feyenoord, Hwang consistently showcased strong performances. He recently demonstrated his impact on the international stage, contributing a goal and an assist in South Korea’s 2-1 victory against the Czech Republic during a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier. Hwang expressed his delight at joining what he called a “world-class club” and committed to giving his all.
