Hanwha Snaps Losing Streak, Climbs to Sixth Behind Shim Woo-jun’s Power
Hanwha Eagles defeated KIA Tigers 7-3 on May 22nd at Gwangju-KIA Champions Field, breaking a four-game losing streak. The victory also propelled Hanwha, now with a record of 41 wins, 3 draws, and 44 losses, back into sixth place in the standings, surpassing NC.
The Eagles’ win was largely fueled by Shim Woo-jun’s impressive performance, contributing four RBIs, including a three-run homer in the second inning. This marked his fourth home run of the season. Starter Owen White also delivered a strong outing for Hanwha.
Hanwha wasted no time in establishing an early lead, effectively challenging KIA ace Adam Oller. In the top of the first, after a walk to Moon Hyun-bin and a single by Noh Si-hwan, Jonathan Peraza hit an infield single to bring Moon Hyun-bin home.
The loss ended KIA’s five-game winning streak, dropping their record to 49 wins, 2 draws, and 41 losses. The gap between fourth-place KIA and fifth-place Doosan Bears (47 wins, 3 draws, 42 losses) now stands at 1.5 games.
