Arsenal Pursue Guimarães as Real Madrid Eye Vinicius Jr Contract Talks
Arsenal has initiated formal discussions with Newcastle regarding a potential transfer for midfielder Bruno Guimarães, with an initial offer reportedly turned down. The Gunners, who value the Brazilian at up to £70 million, face a counter-valuation of approximately £80 million from Newcastle for their captain, who has two years remaining on his current deal. Guimarães recently joined Newcastle's pre-season training in La Manga after his post-World Cup break.
This move comes as Arsenal also maintains a keen interest in Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr. The Brazilian is set to resume contract negotiations with Real Madrid this week, as his current deal extends until 2027. Despite Arsenal identifying him as a priority target should his contract situation remain unresolved, Vinicius Jr wants to remain at the Bernabeu.
Meanwhile, other significant player movements are stirring the European transfer market. Fenerbahce is reportedly preparing a substantial offer for Manchester United’s England forward Marcus Rashford, while RB Leipzig is holding out for a €130 million fee for Yan Diomande amid interest from Real Madrid.
