Elliot Anderson has officially joined Manchester City from Nottingham Forest for a club-record £116m, making him one of the most expensive British players in history. The 23-year-old midfielder, fresh off his World Cup performance with England, expressed his excitement to join a “relentless” and “winning” team, labeling City the “kings of Manchester.” He’s already looking forward to the Manchester derby on September 13.
Anderson’s journey to this high-profile move began on the playing fields of Tyneside, developing his skills at Wallsend Boys’ Club, a renowned academy that also nurtured talents like Alan Shearer. His former club, Newcastle United, reluctantly sold him to Nottingham Forest for £35m in July 2024, a decision manager Eddie Howe called the “most reluctant” of his career, driven by concerns over financial regulations.
