Hilliard’s Heroics Propel KT Wiz to Fifth Straight Victory Over LG Twins
The KT Wiz extended their winning streak to five games, defeating the LG Twins for the second consecutive day in a decisive 6-1 victory at Jamsil on the 17th. This win significantly narrows the gap between the third-place Wiz and the second-place Twins to just 1.5 games.
While the Wiz offense was highlighted by Hilliard’s two home runs and six RBIs, the Twins’ Austin Dean made headlines with his 28th home run of the season. Dean, batting third as the first baseman, launched a solo shot in the bottom of the first inning off KT’s left-handed pitcher Logan Allen. This early blast gave the Twins a temporary lead and marked Dean’s return to the league’s solo home run lead in his first at-bat of the second half.
Dean’s solo homer, a 139 km/h cut fastball hit to left-center field, puts him just two home runs shy of achieving a remarkable three consecutive seasons with 30 home runs. Only eight players in KBO League history have accomplished this feat, with Lee Seung-yeop holding the record for seven consecutive seasons. Dean is poised to become only the third foreign player to reach this milestone.
