The Cubs’ offense was prolific, accumulating 14 hits in total, with five going for extra bases. Bregman, a seasoned third baseman, put on a notable display, falling just a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. He credited adjustments in his swing, including using a heavier bat borrowed from Dansby Swanson and positioning his hands further back, for his improved plate presence.
Bregman expressed feeling more “on go” for every pitch and better able to control his swing to drive the ball across the field. Hoerner matched Bregman’s four-hit performance, ensuring the Cubs maintained offensive pressure throughout the contest.
