Top Two K League 1 Teams Battle to Scoreless Draw
The highly anticipated second "Legend Match" of the K League 1 season between league leaders FC Seoul and second-place Jeonbuk Hyundai concluded in a 0-0 draw on the first of the month at Jeonju World Cup Stadium. This result maintains FC Seoul's nine-point lead over Jeonbuk in the standings.
Jeonbuk Hyundai showed a strong attacking presence, particularly in the first half, dominating possession with nearly 80% in the opening fifteen minutes. Their offensive efforts included a sharp shot from Cho Wi-je in the 12th minute, followed by a second-half attempt from Lee Seung-woo that went wide. FC Seoul, despite a less active overall performance, saw some offensive spark after Moon Seon-min entered the game, creating a chance for Son Jeong-beom.
Ultimately, neither team could break the deadlock. A late low free-kick from Jeonbuk’s Italo was secured by FC Seoul goalkeeper Gu Sung-yun, preserving the tie. This marks FC Seoul’s fourth draw of the season, bringing their total points to 43, while Jeonbuk recorded their seventh draw, reaching 34 points.
In other K League action on the same day, Bucheon secured a 3-0 victory over Gangwon in a match held in Gangneung. Additionally, Gimcheon defeated Pohang 1-0 in a match played in Pohang, with Lee Jeong-taek scoring the lone goal.
