Foden Extends Manchester City Stay Through 2030, Eager to Reunite with Maresca

Phil Foden, the 26-year-old midfielder, has signed a new four-year contract with Manchester City, committing his future to the club until 2030. This extension comes as his previous deal was set to expire next summer, securing his place under new head coach Enzo Maresca.

Foden expressed his deep connection to the club, stating that playing for City has always been his ambition and that wearing the shirt is an honor. He acknowledged the team’s historic success during his tenure, which includes six Premier League titles, one Champions League, and two FA Cups, while emphasizing a forward-looking approach to win more.

Having made his first-team debut at 17 under former boss Pep Guardiola in a Champions League match in November 2017, Foden has since accumulated 369 appearances and scored 110 goals for the club. He is one of only three Premier League players to have netted 10 or more goals across all competitions for the last six seasons.

A key aspect of Foden’s renewed commitment is his anticipation of working again with Enzo Maresca. Maresca served as an assistant to Guardiola during City’s treble-winning 2022-23 season, and Foden praised him as a respected figure among the players. This reunion marks an exciting new chapter for Foden at the club.
