Nottingham Forest Replaces Pereira with Glasner in Managerial Shake-Up
TITLE: Nottingham Forest Replaces Pereira with Glasner in Managerial Shake-Up
Nottingham Forest has dismissed manager Vítor Pereira, with the club moving swiftly to appoint former Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner as his successor. The decision, communicated to Pereira late Tuesday evening, marks the fifth managerial change for Forest in under 12 months.
Pereira, who guided Forest to Premier League safety after taking over from Sean Dyche in February, expressed surprise at his departure. In a statement, he noted that the decision came without warning and left him disappointed, despite his pride in the team’s achievements, which included securing top-flight status and reaching the Europa League semi-finals. He also mentioned planning for pre-season and transfer talks.
Forest activated a break clause in Pereira’s contract in June, paving the way for Glasner’s arrival. The club had previously considered Glasner in December 2023 before opting for Nuno Espírito Santo. Glasner, who departed Crystal Palace at the end of last season after leading them to a Europa Conference League title, is reportedly seen by Forest’s technical director, George Syrianos, as a strong fit for the squad’s long-term stability.
The deal to bring in the Austrian manager is understood to be nearing completion, with only final formalities remaining. Forest reportedly views Glasner as an upgrade, hoping his style will better align with the team’s ambitions.
