Dodgers Lead All-Star Selections with Five, Ohtani Among Four Starters
TITLE: Dodgers Lead All-Star Selections with Five, Ohtani Among Four Starters
The 2026 MLB All-Star Game rosters are officially set, with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, and Philadelphia Phillies each sending five players to the July 14 Midsummer Classic in Philadelphia. The Dodgers’ contingent includes four starters, highlighted by superstar Shohei Ohtani, who earned his starting nod through fan voting, receiving the most votes in his respective league.
This year’s 96th edition of the All-Star Game will take place at Citizens Bank Park, capping off a series of events that include the 2026 MLB Draft (July 11-12), the Futures Game (July 12), and the Home Run Derby (July 13). Dave Roberts, manager of the reigning World Series champion Dodgers, will lead the National League squad, while John Schneider of the Blue Jays will manage the American League. Each manager will soon name their starting pitcher.
Beyond the NL-leading Dodgers, Braves, and Phillies, the American League sees the Yankees, Blue Jays, and Rays leading their circuit with four selections apiece. Every one of MLB’s 30 teams will have at least one representative in the game.
Ohtani’s selection comes as he manages a few minor ailments. He was out of the Dodgers’ lineup on Saturday due to tightness in his right biceps, an issue he previously experienced this season. Manager Dave Roberts indicated Ohtani was feeling “considerably better” and might be available for pinch-hitting, with a potential return to the starting lineup for Sunday’s game. There’s also a question mark regarding his final pitching start before the All-Star break, as he’s also dealt with left knee soreness and a blister on his right hand.
