San Francisco’s Lee Jung-hoo saw his four-game hitting streak conclude, going hitless in a recent contest against San Diego at Petco Park in San Diego, California. The outing, where he started as the fifth batter and right fielder, followed a day after he achieved his 300th career Major League Baseball hit.
Lee’s milestone 300th hit came in the previous day’s game against San Diego, a double that marked his 24th of the season. However, he couldn’t maintain that momentum, going 0-for-3 in the subsequent matchup. His season batting average, which stood at .302, slightly dipped to .300 (113 hits in 377 at-bats) after the hitless performance.
In his first at-bat during the second inning with one out and no runners on base, Lee faced San Diego’s left-handed pitcher Yuki Matsui. He hit a fly ball to the shortstop, failing to connect solidly with a 93.2 mph fastball. This marked the end of a consistent run at the plate for Lee, which had started with a game against the Los Angeles Angels on the 26th of last month.
