Liverpool Targets Barcola as Marquee Signing Amidst Record Fee Discussions

Liverpool is gearing up to make an initial offer for Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola, with the 23-year-old French international identified as a key target to bolster the squad. The Merseyside club is actively seeking a replacement for Mohamed Salah, who departed at the close of last season, and views Barcola as a significant acquisition.

PSG has set a valuation for Barcola at approximately £145 million, a figure that would establish a new British transfer record. However, Liverpool is reportedly aiming to secure a deal closer to the £100 million mark. Barcola, who has two years remaining on his current contract, is understood to be receptive to a move to Anfield and a fresh challenge in the Premier League, having seen his playing time diminish at PSG.

The pursuit of Barcola comes after Liverpool’s initial interest in RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, who now appears destined for Real Madrid. Liverpool has already added Víctor Muñoz from Osasuna and Jérémy Jacquet from Rennes for an initial £55 million this summer, but manager Andoni Iraola is keen on further strengthening both the attacking and defensive lines.

Despite the hefty price tag, Liverpool is determined to make Barcola their statement signing of the summer transfer window. The club has engaged in discussions with Barcola’s representatives and, having received encouragement regarding his willingness to move, anticipates submitting a bid in the coming days.
