Dodgers Erase Six-Run Deficit in Stinging Comeback Against Padres

TITLE: Dodgers Erase Six-Run Deficit in Stinging Comeback Against Padres
The Los Angeles Dodgers orchestrated a stunning turnaround on Thursday night at Dodger Stadium, overcoming an early six-run deficit to defeat the San Diego Padres 12-7. This remarkable comeback marked the Dodgers’ second-largest margin of victory after trailing by six or more runs since 1900.

San Diego started strong, with Manny Machado hitting a two-run homer in the first inning, followed by a solo shot from Jackson Merrill and a three-run blast by Jake Cronenworth in the second. This barrage gave the Padres a commanding 6-0 lead, chasing Dodgers starter Roki Sasaki after three innings. Sasaki, who also struggled against the Padres six days prior, surrendered seven hits, two walks, and six earned runs on 88 pitches, including three home runs.

However, the Padres’ pitching staff could not hold the lead. Starter Randy Vasquez, despite the early run support, allowed four runs over three innings, including a two-run home run to Dalton Rushing in the second. Wandy Peralta then entered in the fourth and had a rough outing, giving up four runs on six hits in just one inning. By the end of the fourth, the Dodgers had flipped the script, leading 8-6.

The Los Angeles offense continued to pile on, with Yuki Matsui allowing two runs and German Marquez allowing two runs for the Padres. This loss extended San Diego’s losing streak to six games, during which their pitchers have collectively given up 66 runs. The Dodgers’ resilience secured their first comeback win of at least six runs since July 2022.
