The Doosan Bears secured their third consecutive victory on June 2nd, defeating the LG Twins 8-3 in a KBO League contest held at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul. This win propelled Doosan to fourth place in the standings and improved their season record against LG to 7 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw.
Doosan’s starting pitcher, Wes Benjamin, delivered a strong performance, earning his fifth win of the season (5-7). Benjamin, who was the league leader in ERA last month, pitched six innings, allowing three runs on four hits while striking out eight. His outing marked a quality start and his first win since June 25th against the Hanwha Eagles. Following Benjamin, relievers Kim Jeong-woo, Takada, and Park Chi-guk maintained the lead.
The Doosan offense generated 13 hits, providing ample support for their pitchers. Lead-off hitter Kim Dae-han, along with Park Jun-soon and Kim Min-seok, each contributed multiple hits. Kim Dae-han continued his strong hitting, while Cho Su-haeng notched a crucial 3-3 tying RBI double and collected two hits in two at-bats. Park Chan-ho delivered a two-run go-ahead hit in the fourth inning. Doosan’s manager, Kim Won-hyung, praised Benjamin’s quality start and highlighted the offensive contributions, including Kim Dae-han’s consistent performance and the timely hitting of Cho Su-haeng and Park Chan-ho. He also noted the smart baserunning of Jung Soo-bin and Park Chan-ho in later innings.
LG’s starter, Anders Tolhurst, struggled, giving up six runs over four innings. The Twins briefly took a 4-3 lead in the fourth inning on a solo home run by Lee Ju-heon and an RBI double by Song Chan-ui, but Doosan responded with a big inning in the bottom half. Doosan broke the game open in the seventh and eighth innings with aggressive baserunning and additional runs, ultimately securing the decisive victory.
