Doosan Halts Skid with Shutout Victory, Led by Kwak Bin’s Dominant Pitching

The Doosan Bears snapped a two-game losing streak, defeating the Samsung Lions 7-0 on May 26 at Jamsil Baseball Stadium. The victory prevented a sweep by the Lions, who saw their own three-game winning streak come to an end.

Doosan’s starting pitcher, Kwak Bin, was the undisputed ace of the night, earning his ninth win of the season. He threw 113 pitches over six scoreless innings, showcasing what manager Kim Won-hyung praised as an “ace-like pitching performance.” The bullpen, including Kim Jung-woo, Kim Taek-yeon, and Lee Young-ha, maintained the shutout by each pitching a responsible inning.

The Bears’ offense broke the scoreless tie in the fourth inning against Samsung’s debut starter, Austin Boss. Severino hit a double, advanced to third on a flyout, and then scored on an RBI single by Yang Eui-ji. Kim Min-seok followed with a single, and An Jae-seok added an RBI double, extending Doosan’s lead to 2-0. Boss finished his KBO debut allowing two runs over five innings.

Doosan further solidified their lead in the sixth inning when Severino singled and Park Jun-soon was hit by a pitch. A subsequent single by Kim Min-seok was mishandled by Samsung’s left fielder, Koo Ja-wook, allowing both Kang Seung-ho and Park Jun-soon to score on the error. The Bears then put the game out of reach in the eighth inning with a big rally, adding more runs through consecutive hits by Park Jun-soon and Yang Eui-ji, and an RBI single by An Jae-seok, pushing the final score to 7-0. Yang Eui-ji finished with two hits and three RBIs, while An Jae-seok also contributed two hits and two RBIs.
